From an early age, Timothy Williams was always captivated by film scores, especially of the scores of Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, John Williams and John Powell. At age 16, filmmaker Paul Almond came to Tim’s school to film Prep School. Paul heard Tim playing and asked him to write amaterial for the film and Tim was hooked. Tim studied at the National Film and Television School in England, the UCLA Film Extention and attended the ASCAP film scoring workshop, where he was mentored by James Newton Howard.
When Tim moved to Hollywood, he discovered his neighbor was also a composer – Tyler Bates. They formed an instant friendship and Tim has orchestrated for Tyler ever since, writing additonal music on many of his scores. Tyler has been a major influence and mentor to Tim over the last decade.
